dr. watts publishes book chapter on social media and liberal arts

igiDirector of the Newell Center for Arts Technology and Associate Professor of Music Christopher Watts has published a book chapter entitled “Connection, Fragmentation, and Intentionality: Social Software and the Changing Nature of Expertise.”

As social media and other types of social software become more and more integrated with daily life, they also change the ways that we think about expertise. The chapter explores the potential downsides of this change, and makes a case for the importance of the liberal arts in counterbalancing the downsides of social software.

More info about the book and an excerpt of the chapter can be found here.
